Rose Gilardi, Bred by Ralph Moore, Visalia California, 1987.
This is another of the Miniature Moss roses bred by Ralph Moore, of California. 'Rose Gilardi' is compact and well, branched, blooming profusely throughout the season. There is little fragrance from the bloom, but the mossy buds are balsam scented when rubbed. Blooms are frequently produced in clusters of 3 or more, but sometimes appear singly as well. The individual blooms are 1.5 to 2 inches across, and open fully to display bright stamens. There are not a lot of petals, so this is not a show variety......buds open fully quite quickly. The beauty of this variety is in the fully open bloom, which displays the striping wonderfully!
The foliage is quite disease resistant, and covers the plant well. This is a very nice mini moss shrub, well worth growing.
'Rose Gilardi' is available from The Uncommon Rose.
