'Star Dust', bred by Ralph Moore, California 2002.
'Star Dust' (MORstar) "1-72-1" X 'Out Of Yesteryear', Hybrid Bracteata, white blend.
What a sweet little rose this is! In October of 2001 at Sequoia Nursery, I saw this plant in bloom when Ralph was still contemplating a name for it. Cream colored pointed buds are produced singly and in clusters on this 18 inch to 2-foot plant. They open to a soft cream and white blend bloom, very double (60 petals or more), with pointed petals "Like a many pointed star!" says Ralph. Bloom form is beautiful from bud to fully open. 'Star Dust' also has a pleasant scent, undoubtedly inherited from 'Out of Yesteryear'. This variety is also a little larger than the typical Miniature, growing to perhaps 24 inches tall. In this case, the seed parent was the talented "1-72-1", which is the sister seedling of 'Rise 'N' Shine'. In spite of the fully double blooms, 'Star Dust' has been observed to set seed as well.
